Mobile Medical Unit
As a result of the economic and humanitarian crisis in Greece, many people have become unemployed, losing their homes and being forced to live in poverty, unable to cover even their basic needs. The most vulnerable groups are elderly people and children. Unfortunately, the current situation in Greece is such that a large section of the population cannot even afford basic healthcare.
In response to this problem, we created a fully equipped mobile medical unit in order to provide medical care to those who do not have access to it. To achieve this, we are working with a team of specialized volunteer doctors to both prevent and cure illnesses and health-related problems.
Our medical unit is fully equipped with the following:
-space for medical examinations
-medical suction devices
-equipment for measuring blood sugar
Our team of volunteer doctors includes general practitioners, pathologists, paediatricians, general surgeons, gynaecologists, orthopaedics as well as more specialized medical teams willing to offer their services. The doctors take the medical history of the patients and then examine them. Depending on the results, they provide counselling, medical care (including medicine), and help the patients find the right hospital if they require more serious medical treatment.
Our vision is both to alleviate the suffering of the needy, but also inspire others to undertake similar initiatives that aim to restore the health and dignity of the less fortunate.
Given that our activities aim to promote selfless service and philanthropy, all our services are run by volunteers and are provided entirely free of cost.
